Instead of buying expensive treats full of mysterious ingredients, invite the kids into the kitchen and spend some time together making your own treats. These homemade salmon treats for dogs are SO easy to make – and only contain 3 ingredients. Most of the steps are so simple that kids of all ages will love helping you!

Ask an adult to place the baking sheets in the oven. Bake for 40 minutes or until the treats are dry and crispy. Once the silicone molds have cooled, have the kids invert them onto the baking sheet. Store these dog treats in a zip-top bag in the freezer and remove what you need each day. (They contain no preservatives, so they spoil at room temperature.)

Homemade Peanut Butter Dog Treats Your Pet Will Love!

Most families with dogs and young children feel overwhelmed. I offer quick wins and long-term strategies to make life with children and dogs easier and safer. Our dog Grace recently ran out of homemade dog treats, but since it’s been so warm outside lately, I decided to make these frozen banana peanut butter treats for dogs. of baked goodies. I kept it simple by using just three ingredients: peanut butter, banana, and Greek yogurt. First I melted some peanut butter in the microwave and put it in the cute silicone dog beds I found recently. Then I added a layer of sweet/ripe banana puree combined with Greek yogurt and put it in the freezer for a few hours. Grace was totally excited by these frozen treats and did her best to get a second one. To be honest, I was very tempted to eat one!

Make sure the peanut butter you use does not contain xylitol. It is a sweetener used in many foods, including peanut butter, and is safe for humans but potentially fatal for dogs. If ingested, it can cause seizures, liver failure and death, warned an animal hospital, which classified xylitol as “extremely toxic” to dogs.

Heat the peanut butter in a microwave-safe bowl for 10-15 seconds or until soft and slightly runny.

Place an even layer of peanut butter in each silicone mold. Gently tap the silicone trays to remove any air bubbles and level them.

Make the banana mixture by mashing the ripe banana in a bowl with a fork until it becomes creamy. Add the Greek yogurt and mix until well combined. Spread an even layer of the banana-yogurt mixture until the mold is full. Gently tap the silicone containers on the counter and place them in the freezer for 4 hours.

Remove from the silicone molds and store these frozen treats on layers of parchment in an airtight container in the freezer. I understand the convenience of buying dog treats at the store, but there is something rewarding about making homemade treats. You know the ingredients, they’re fresh and your pup will love them! I made 3 different types of dog treats: frozen dog treats, pumpkin peanut butter dog treats, and dog treats.

The Frozen Dog Treats were the easiest to make and let me tell you, the dogs love them! I think DeNiro even swallowed it all! Bear was a little more delicate with his and had to lick the treat instead of just chewing it. I think it was too cold and probably too big for his mouth. The great thing about these treats is that they are frozen, so you don’t have to worry about them expiring anytime soon. And they’re a perfect way to help your dog cool down on a hot summer day.
