Best Cornbread Mix For Dressing
Best Cornbread Mix For Dressing – Southern Cocoa Dressing is my favorite recipe/style recipe. I always make this for Thanksgiving. I use my homemade cornbread recipe and another bread, usually Italian or sourdough as a base for the fritters.
The homemade cornbread that forms the base of this fritter adds depth to the flavor. It enhances the flavor of the butter and the rich texture of the wheat flour.

Southern Dressing Recipe
Note 1: To dry the bread quickly for dressing/decoration: leave the bread on a large baking sheet overnight to ripen. Or place the bread blocks in the oven at 350 degrees for 10 minutes to harden the bread.
Note 2: I like to break half of the cornbread and make small ½ inch blocks in the second half. Use ½ loaf of Italian bread. The total amount of bread equals 12 cups of bread. To make cornbread at home, an 8×8 loaf pan will make enough wheat bread for 6 cups.

Where I come from, we grew up eating Stove Top Stuffing. I didn’t know about cornbread dressing until we moved south. Now that I have two, I prefer a good southern dressing to a new bra.
This cornbread recipe is very easy to make because you start by baking a Jiffy bag in an 8×8 baking dish. The box recipe calls for ⅓ cup of milk, but I used buttermilk to give it a creamy texture. You can make this part a day before breaking down the rest of the recipe.
Cornbread Dressing Recipe + Black Food Blogger Potluck
There is much debate about the difference between frying and brushing whole wheat bread. Some say that the name varies depending on where you live, but there is no difference in the dish. Some people say that when it is put on a turkey, it is called “blue”. In my experience, the breading I tried was mostly white bread cubes, with a cornbread dressing that was more structured than wheat bread. However, there are some places where a garment made of a mixture of wheat flour is called “wheat bread.”
You can use this recipe as a base and add any mix-ins and spices you like. I usually use spices, but thyme and summer herbs are great additions! You can add pulled pork, sausage, or some vegetables. I love this simple recipe as written, but everyone has their favorite cornbread dressing.
In addition to the Jiffy mix and ingredients listed on the box, you’ll need a few simpler ingredients.

Easy Cornbread Stuffing Recipe For Thanksgiving
For Thanksgiving dinner, if you give me a plate filled with nothing but my grandmother’s cornbread, I’m a happy girl. Of course, I love anything that graces our Thanksgiving table (turkey, gravy, mashed potatoes, sweet potatoes, salad, green bean casserole, cranberry salad, rolls, etc), but corn dressing is my favorite.
I have made many dressings/inventions in my thirty-nine years of life, but I have never come across a recipe quite like my grandmother’s cornbread dressing. With the simple ingredients of wheat bread, bread, onion, celery, fruit, salt, pepper, sage, and chicken broth, it just goes to show that sweet and savory dishes are the most delicious. I hope you enjoy this family recipe.
People have different names for the soup stew that is featured alongside the Thanksgiving turkey. Dressed or clothed? What is the difference?

Cornbread: The most important part of this recipe is the cornbread. Instead of just bread for dressing, we use half bread, half bread. Bake your cornbread a day or two before assembling and cooking your dressing. HERE
